Who We Are
During the late summer of September 10, 2009, Alicio Valle and his sons Angel and Anthony got together to discuss ways to share Kayaking, Hiking, and Camping adventres with the Hispanic community.
Thus the Latino Kayakers of America was formed!
As a marketer, Alicio set out to find the best ACA Certified Instructors and organizations that was well suited for his members. He choose Mr.& Mrs. Marshall Seddon of The River Connection, in Hyde Park, NY. and the ADK (Adirondack Mountain Club).
He also choose two retailers that would give LKOA members discounts on kayak related products such as:
- The River Connection, Hyde Park, NY
- Mountain Tops Outfitters, Beacon, NY
We are made up of mostly Hispanics from all cultures and backgrounds loving and supporting the low-impact recreational use of the New York waterways, forest preserves, and the protection of the environment and its inhabitants. We embrace ourselves in “Honor, Integrity, and Respect” For our members, other kayak clubs, and environmental organizations that share our values.
We embraced the ADK (Adirondack Mountain Club) because they are “dedicated for the protection and responsible recreational use of the New York forest preserves, parks, other wild lands, and waterways.” We encourage our members to be part of this great organization.
